Merry Christmas to the most awesome SharePoint community. You guys have made yet another year of SharePoint bearable as well as informative. I realize more and more just how little I know and how you guys stop me from going insane, and for that I thank you.
I’ve been pondering what I could get all of you for Christmas. At first I thought of getting everyone a Kinect, but then realized you didn’t all have Xboxes so that wouldn’t be a good idea. So, I took all them back to the store and thought some more… and… like always… I thought of something completely selfish and self-serving.
A while ago I tracked down an old Zip Code database and converted it into an Excel spreadsheet. Several times I have imported the excel spreadsheet into a SharePoint list and have found it helpful for the following reasons:
- Getting real world data for demos
- Testing large list operations (it’s 42,000 + rows)
- Developing and testing cascading drop down functionality
- Other various “let’s try this and see what happens” scenarios
So.. I thought.. if I found this useful why not put this spreadsheet in the “cloud” (I still hate that term) so that I don’t have to keep searching for it on my hdd or lose it when my hdd finally crashes AND I can seem all nice and friendly by giving you guys the link to it as well:
